According to the Individual Investor Program, the investor must do the following:

A.       Contribution to the National Economic and Social Development Fund

To qualify for Maltese citizenship through exceptional services, the main applicant is required to contribute at least € 750,000 to Malta after completing 1 year of residency or € 600,000 after completing 3 years of residency. Dependants of the Main Applicant are required to contribute € 50,000 each.

And

B.       Rental and purchase a property

Buying property worth at least € 700,000 and maintaining ownership for 5 years. Or leasing property for five years with a minimum annual rent of € 16,000.

C.       Philanthropic donation

Applicants are required to make a philanthropic contribution of at least €10,000.

What are the qualifications?

Applicants should hold a valid travel document.

Primary applicant must show proof of enough funds.

Main applicant must show proof of having an annual income of at least € 500,000 out of which €150,000 should be in the form of financial assets.

What is the investment option?

Investors interested to obtain the permanent residency of Malta must comply with the following: 

A.       Purchase a property with minimum value of € 350,000 or if situated in Gozo or the South of Malta with a minimum investment of € 300,000. Or lease of residential property with a minimum annual rental value of € 12,000 or if situated in Gozo or the South of Malta will be € 10,000.

B.      A non-refundable contribution required to pay to the Maltese Government of €98,000 when opting to rent a property €68,000 or when opting to purchase a property. Two stages will be required to pay these fees: €10,000 on submission of the application stage and the remaining fees on approval of the application. An additional €7,500 application fee is to be paid per each parent/grandparent, of the main an applicant or the spouse, included in the application.

C.     Applicants are also required to donate at least €2,000 to a local registered philanthropic, cultural sport, scientific, animal welfare or artistic NGO registered with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations or as otherwise approved by the Residency Malta Agency.
